Late afternoon in the garden…

🍂 Our fall front door kicks off with the wreath I made from yard hydrangeas & CSA blooms. Once it was hung, I added a few final touches—freshly cut lavender from the backyard and my DIY moss branches—and made a few tweaks to fill some holes & add justttt a little symmetry to help balance out the natural asymmetry. 🌿✨

Wallpaper is going up at our No. 216 Waban project. This 1930s home is full of character—some more challenging to work with than others. Case in point: the staircase & entry with its tricky transitions, wonky angles, and a delicate balance of determining which surfaces should read as ceiling vs wall. I’m not sure there’s a “right” way to do this, but we made it happen—and it turned out beautifully!

I’ll be sharing more soon, but you can find some details in my No. 216 Waban story highlight. ✨

Wallpaper is going up at our No. 216 Waban project. This 1930s home is full of character—some more challenging to work with than others. Case in point: the staircase & entry with its tricky transitions, wonky angles, and a delicate balance of determining which surfaces should read as ceiling vs wall. I’m not sure there’s a “right” way to do this, but we made it happen—and it turned out beautifully!

🍂 Hydrangea season may be fading but their beauty certainly isn’t…so use them in a whimsical fall wreath! There’s really no wrong way—the joy is in the whimsy—but a few tips to help:

✨ Cut when blooms are just starting to turn/dry (early AM is best, after rain or watering). ✨ Trim stems 12–15” at an angle, close to the nearest node (aka leaves), and strip the leaves. ✨ Start with a wreath frame & greenery base (I used artificial wired) then the hydrangeas, and layer in grasses & other blooms, securing with floral wire as needed. ✨ Snap a quick pic—your camera spots the gaps your eye might miss! Asymmetry is great, holes are not.
