#farmhousedialfano the Sequel...our Bedroom Plans

our bedroom in the last house / #mstarrxohidesign with Jessica Klein of Oh I Design / photo by Ruth Eileen Photography

So it’s been awhile eh? The past few months have been jam packed with packing, moving, unpacking, organizing, managing deliveries that show up without any notice, and more unpacking. Day by day, we are getting settled and are absolutely in love with our new home, location, and town! I feel like each room has been getting a little or a lot of love in terms of design and unlike our last house (where I waited until 6 years after moving in to do much of anything to our bedroom) I am thrilled to be focusing on our current bedroom NOW! Thankfully since the design was so recent (catch up on the #mstarrxohidesign collaboration), I come armed with beautiful furniture and decor pieces so I’m really just filling in the holes. I even partnered with Clare again to paint the walls in Classic because it’s just the loveliest neutral that isn’t too warm, isn’t too cool, yet brightens things up!

So above is what the room looked like in the listing photos. A robin’s egg blue color, an odd pendant light, and with some kinda interesting/kinda strange paneling on only 2 walls. Keeping the paneling for now but as mentioned above, painted the room! Here’s what it looks like now…

The room, while not huge, is much bigger than the last one but similar to the old one, the layout is somewhere constrained due to the placement of a radiator (I remain torn on whether I find the radiators in the house charming or troublesome). Our king bed only has one place to go and that’s in front of the window. It was not what I was hoping for but I’m starting to actually like it. I played around with the placement of our Chilton wardrobe and dresser and the room now has a nice flow but I was itching to finish up the design.

I’m really just building on the foundation of our previous room, adding additional layers and patterns and textures. I’m going for a sophisticated, English cottage-esque vibe and I think I’m there!? See below…

FROM TOP LEFT: My new favorite curtains…blackout, chic, and affordable! / Our vintage Lane side table…a FB Marketplace score last year / I’m overjoyed to be partnering with Shades of Light on Star Swing Arm Sconces and this ruffled marble stunner of a flush mount! My plan is to use these Maison Maison woven shades on the sconces. / Clare Classic paint / One Kings Lane Frank Linen Headboard (french seam) in Talc / Our existing Danielle Oakey Estelle and Harriett pillows. The best. / The wood platform bed we’ve had forever. / I am most excited about a new rug for this space since the last room required a custom carpet to properly fit the strange shape. My friends at Loloi never disappoint and this beauty from the Rifle x Loloi line just arrived. She’s perfect. / While this isn’t 100% confirmed, I’m leaning towards this vintage nightstand from FB Marketplace as I’ve been wanting to mix + match vintage nightstands. I’m just waiting for the seller to get back into town but I love the darker color and will add some new hardware. It’s nice that's it’s a bit wider too as it will go on my side which has more space than Bill’s. / Georgia from Juniper Print Shop. I added her to the old room right before moving and she’s definitely staying! / I have yet to tire of our eyelet duvet and sheets from Garnet Hill! Same with our Casaluna blanket from Target. / These Serena & Lily scalloped baskets were supposed to arrive last month and it appears they won’t come for another month or two (insert sad face) but when they do, they’ll find their new home in this room! / One of my favorite vases from Abode Shoppe here in Massachusetts (they ship! Use MSTARR10 for 10% off!). / Our beloved Chilton wardrobe in Plain Sawn White Oak with Anthropologie Streamline Knobs in Brass and Amazon ring pull knobs. / I thought Target had retired our French Country wood mirror but it’s back in stores! / I’m still on the hunt for a bench but if going with the darker nightstand, I like the idea of a darker bench and this one from Overstock is affordable and timeless. / Our other piece from Chilton, the Acadia Dresser in Maple, is truly one of the most gorgeous pieces of furniture I could ever dream of owning. / No way I’m ditching the Calabria lamp from Troy Lighting. / I plan on bringing one of my Jayson Home Seagrass Vases in here and filling with both fresh and faux flowers.

What do you think? Can’t wait to share more as it all comes together. Make sure you’re following along on Instagram and check out the various story highlights related to the new house!
